With heavy hearts, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens closed to the public effective Saturday, March 14 until further notice, in accordance with Mayor Curry’s decision regarding slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
We share what is surely your deep disappointment over this unprecedented decision. We also understand that these actions have the power to make a real difference in the fight to slow this pandemic, not just for the health and safety of our guests, members, animals, and team members, but for our larger community as well.
Looking ahead toward a much brighter future, we continue to look after the health, safety, and nutritional needs of our animals. Like you, we look forward to the time when we are all able to once again enjoy the interaction of people, wildlife, and their environment together.
This page will be updated as new information becomes available.
During this closure we will continue to provide the highest standard of care to our animals. We have extended specific precautions to the gorillas, bonobos, and other primates who are potentially susceptible to human viruses.

We maintain high standards related to the health and safety of staff and guests, and our staff are working diligently to sustain clean facilities. Following CDC guidance, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens recommends that everyone should take the following routine precautions:
While the Zoo and Gardens are closed to the public, our animal care team and essential staff are maintaining continuity of necessary operations. Employees should refer to internal communications and their supervisor with questions or concerns.

I am a member and want to know how Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is handling my membership benefits?
An extension equivalent to the number of days the zoo is closed will be applied to your membership. Upon re-opening, your membership end date will be automatically adjusted to reflect the additional time so you will get the full number of days you paid for.
I purchased tickets but I’m unable to use them due to your closure:
Once the Zoo reopens, previously purchased tickets will be honored and extended through December 31, 2020. Upon reopening, ticket purchasers may redeem their tickets by providing tickets to any ticketing booth at entry. It is not necessary to call advance.
If you are not able to visit by December 31, 2020 you can apply the value of an unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.
