Red spitting cobras are orange or red dorsally with a broad black throat band. They have a black mark below the eyes giving a tear drop appearance. The average length of a red spitting cobra is 2.5 to 4 feet. They have 21-27 scale rows on the midbody, 197-228 ventral scales, and 61-72 subcaudal scales.
