Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Legacy Society
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Legacy Society has been created to honor the contributions of friends of the Zoo who have expressed their commitment by including the Zoo in their estate plans. Legacy Society donors ensure that Jacksonville will have a vibrant zoo for generations to come. Such gifts provide future support guaranteeing that our mission of caring for diverse animal populations, educating the public about wildlife and the need for conservation continues for future generations. We are delighted to honor this growing Society of donors.
There are several ways to give, from a simple specific dollar amount or perhaps other ways could be more appropriate in your circumstances:
- Percentage of your estate
- Specific asset
- Retirement plan assets
- Designate the Zoo as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy
The Zoo’s volunteer Planned Giving Committee acts as a resource to Zoo staff to answer any questions donors may have about establishing planned gifts for the Zoo. Members include trusted professionals such as estate attorneys, financial planners, CPA’s and wealth management professionals.
In many cases, planned gifts can help to:
- Reduce estate, gift and/or current income taxes
- Reduce or eliminate taxes on capital gains at the time of the gift
- Provide a secure income stream for the rest of your life
- Provide additional income for your heirs
