Zoom on over to Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ Classic Car Show

 

 

May 28, 2008 - Jacksonville, Fl - On Saturday, June 14, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will hold its second annual ZOOM at the Zoo classic car show.  Classic cars from the First Coast region will be showing off their shine from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Zoo’s main parking lot.  Guests can vote for their favorite cars and register to win special prizes.  There will be a visit from Jazoo, the Zoo’s friendly mascot, and a DJ will be on hand with rockin’ music.  A live band will also be performing music from the 50’s and 60’s at the Range of the Jaguar inside the Zoo.  For those who are interested in displaying their classic car, contact the Special Events Coordinator at (904) 757-4463 extension 211. 

 

“This is the ideal way to treat dads on Saturday during Father’s Day Weekend,” said Janet Johnson, Director of Operations and Marketing at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.  “For those who can’t come out for this special event on Saturday, we’re offering free admission to fathers on Sunday if you bring the coupon from our Web site at www.jacksonvillezoo.org.”

 

For over 90 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,400 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 unique plant species. The Jacksonville Zoo is a non-profit organization and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).  It is open year-round, seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located on Jacksonville’s north side at 370 Zoo Parkway, one-half mile east from I-95.  The Zoo is open until 6:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays from March to Labor Day.
