After Dark FAQs
Where do we sleep?
All After Dark Adventures begin at the PepsiCo Foundation Education Campus. With our four climate controlled classrooms and auditorium, the Education Campus can accommodate groups of up to 40 people. We also have our tiger building that will hold up to 40 people.
What do we bring?
When you make your reservation, you will be sent a list of items to bring for your experience. Typically that list includes the following: all personal items, sleeping bag, air mattress (recommended as you will be sleeping on a linoleum floor), pillows, sleepwear, and clothes for the following day, and footwear that covers the entire foot. The following are not permitted: heelies (shoes with wheels in them), sandals, crocs, or any other shoes that expose the foot to the air.
Are there showers?
Showers are not available.
How far in advance should I make a reservation?
Our After Dark Programs are available any day of the week, year-round. Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular evenings of the week. It is advised that you make your reservation at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
How do I make payment?
A deposit of $150 is due at the time off booking. When you receive your confirmation materials, it will have date that your remaining balance is due (Two weeks before your event). The balance of your payment is due two weeks ahead of your event and is based on the guest count given at that time (no refunds for no shows). Please note that you will be charged for any guest over the arranged head count the night of the event.
Are there a minimum or maximum number of guests for an After Dark Event?
Yes; there is a minimum of 15 paid guests required and a 40 person maximum guest capacity per sleeping location. We require one adult for every ten children.
What if I need to increase my numbers?
Your numbers may not exceed the 40 person maximum. We ask that you call and update your numbers at least one week in advance, so we may plan your food and our staff accordingly. Your total fee will be based on the head count given at that time.
I have some parents with children under the age of 5 years. May they come, too?
We are unable to accommodate children under the age of 5 on our behind-the-scenes tours. To make your evening a positive experience we strongly advise that you adhere to the age specifications.
What if I have some who arrive after our start time or who do not wish to spend the night?
For security reasons, the front gates of the Zoo are locked at 7 p.m. Special arrangements must be made for late arrivals and early departures at least a week in advance of your scheduled program.
Is my deposit refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable if you choose to cancel your scheduled event. You may transfer your deposit to another date if you wish to reschedule your event up to 8 days in advance..
