Safety and Security Supervisor

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a Safety and Security Supervisor.  This position is responsible to maintain the daily operation of the Safety and Security Division to ensure professional safety and security procedures are enforced throughout the park for guests and employees.

A minimum of 3 years of previous experience in the security/ranger field, as well as experience in staff supervision, scheduling, and training are required. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, the ability to interact well with the public, and the ability to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism while exercising sound judgment and decision making are required. A high level of integrity, professionalism and honesty is required. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office related products. Knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard analysis, and compliance is preferred. Prior experience in emergency management, CCTV systems, fire control and alarm systems, and access control and lock maintenance is a plus.
 
Candidates must be available to work a flexible work schedule including weekend and holidays.  Physical requirements include the ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot, work in adverse weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds without difficulty, be able to bend, climb, kneel, stand and walk for long periods of time, lift overhead, and operate a motorized vehicle.
A valid Florida driver’s license is required.  CPR and First Aid certification is required.
