Safety and Security Park Ranger
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a Safety and Security Park Ranger. Duties include area patrol, traffic control, guest interaction, administering minor first aid, report writing, conducting safety audits, safety compliance and inspections, follow-up on reported safety hazards, investigate safety issues, and other routine safety and security duties.
Applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, have the ability to interact well with the public and be able to demonstrate sound judgment and make good decisions. A high level of integrity, professionalism and honesty is required. Knowledge and prior enforcement of OSHA and safety standards and compliance is strongly preferred. First Aid and CPR certification, experience with CCTV systems, fire control and alarm systems, and access control and lock maintenance is a plus. Understanding of ICS and emergency management planning is also a plus.
This position requires working a flexible work schedule and will require you to work weekends, overnight and holidays. Physical requirements include the ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot, work in adverse weather conditions, operate motorized vehicle, lift up to 50 pounds without difficulty, bend, lift, climb, stoop, kneel and stand & walk for long periods of time. This position does not require a State of Florida Security License.
