Food Service Supervisor
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a full-time Food Service Supervisor who reports to the Restaurant Manager. This position has primary responsibility for the supervision of the daily operations of all food service areas. Also included is the professional development and training of food service staff, implementing and enforcing guidelines for service standards and safety. This position requires a commitment to maintain high departmental standards for excellent customer service to the guests of the JZG. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with an ability to communicate the objectives and standards of the department to the staff are also required.
Applicants must be available to work special events that may occur outside of regular work schedule, including evenings, weekends or holidays, as needed and have the ability to work independently, exercising independent judgment and discretion. There will be some limited early evening hours for special events. The typical work week is 5 days with 2 consecutive days off during the week.
Working hours thru the week are 8:30am – 5:30pm and on weekends, from 8:30am – 6:30pm.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success building a high performing team and possess strong organizational skills. In addition, candidates must have a solid working knowledge of food service POS and food tracking systems, along with a food handling certification.
Candidates must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, traverse zoo grounds on foot, work in adverse weather conditions, be able to bend and lift, sweep, mop, stoop and be able to lift 50 pounds without difficulty for short distances. You must also possess a valid driver’s license.
