Facilities Maintenance Technician
Jacksonville Zoo is currently hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the preventative, routine and emergency repairs on all facility equipment including pumps, motors, HVAC, water lines, electrical lines, etc. Carpentry work to include: layout, framing, exterior and interior wall claddings among other carpentry duties.
A minimum of 2 years experience in Facilities Maintenance or Construction should include basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry and building systems. Strong construction and building experience is preferred. Good communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment and the motivation to work independently are required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without difficulty, traverse zoo grounds on foot, must be able to stoop, bend, lift, kneel, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, squat, lift overhead, dig, rake, sweep, push, pull and safely operate machinery. Previous carpentry experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required and candidates must be available to work weekends.
Candidates must also be available to work special events that may occur outside of regular work schedule, including evenings, weekends or holidays, as assigned, and ability to work independently, exercising independent judgment and discretion.
