Facilities Maintenance Technician
This position is responsible for the preventative, routine and emergency repairs on all facility equipment including pumps, motors, HVAC, water lines, electrical lines, etc. Carpentry work to include framing, replacement of fencing and other light carpentry duties. A minimum of 2 years experience in Facilities Maintenance should include basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry and water filtration systems. Strong construction and building experience is preferred. The ability to operate heavy equipment will be preferred. Good communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment are required.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without difficulty, traverse zoo grounds on foot, must be able to stoop, bend, lift, kneel, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, squat, lift overhead, dig, rake, sweep, push, pull and safely operate machinery. Previous experience with backhoe and/or front-end loader is preferred. A valid Florida driver’s license is required and candidates must be available to work weekends.
