The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking an apprentice horticulture technician for our growing gardens.  Some previous experience in landscape maintenance is preferred and a strong interest in plants or landscaping is required.   Duties include planting, weeding, pruning, and general maintenance of the gardens and grounds.  Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to dig, sweep, rake, crouch, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, work in adverse weather, operate a motorized cart and traverse zoo grounds on foot.   Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The starting salary for this position is $7.50 per hour plus a complete benefits package including free medical, dental and life insurance for the employee, a 403(b) Retirement Plan, and paid time off.
