Soil Requirements:
Drought tolerant but will thrive with frequent waterings. Keep plants on the dry side in the winter or when in low light.
Notes:
- Prefer a heavier potting mix that contains a large quantity of organic matter
- Great for containers but allow room for the plant’s large root system. It will appreciate a pot that is wider then the plant itself
- Most cold hardy of the Bromeliad genera
- Will be a dark red color when grown in full sun, but in shade will turn green
- Orange flower spikes in Spring, grow up to 3 feet
