Spring Tours 2012

February 4 - Landscaping Ideas (Part 1) ~ The Green of the Garden
Spring is just around the corner…perfect time to start working on those landscape changes you have been wanting.  Making sure the right plant is in the right place is necessary to a low maintenance healthy yard but sometimes it is hard to visualize the mature size when buying baby plants at a nursery.  Join us as we walk thru the Gardens pointing out our hardy mature evergreens for your landscape backdrop.

March 3 - Vegetable Gardening 101
Vegetables…the latest trend in gardening.  Come check out our animal enrichment vegetable garden and talk to our veggie garden guru.  Learn the basics to growing your own little produce patch and discover the secret to a happy healthy vegetable garden.

April 7 - Attracting Wildlife
Birds, butterflies, bees, animals and other insects all depend on plants for their survival and need our help.  With the increase in invasive plants and expansive sterile St. Augustine yards local wildlife has less available food and habitat.  Come walk thru the Gardens with us while we point out wonderful wildlife attracting plants that fit easily into any garden.

May 5 - Landscaping Ideas (Part 2 ) ~ All the Other Colors
Earlier this season we talked about the landscape staples, the evergreens that anchor your garden.  This month we will discuss the prettier side of the garden.  All the flowering perennials and shrubs that give the garden color.  Join us and figure out which foliage and flower colors are right for your garden space.

June 2 - Lush and Lovely Tropicals
Living in North Florida can be a challenge, too hot for hosta, too cold for coconuts.  Yet we still yearn for the tropical garden look. Bananas, bromeliads, gingers, and other lush heat loving plants flourish all over the Zoo gardens.  Join us on a stroll thru the Gardens as we discuss various plants that will bring the tropics to your back yard.

Pre-registration is required.
