Zoom on over to Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ Classic Car Show & FestivalFather’s Day WeekendJune 12, 2007 - Jacksonville, FL - This Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will hold its first annual ZOOM at the ZOO classic car show and festival. The event is sponsored by Sierra Mist. Classic and antique cars from Northeast Florida clubs and organizations will be on display from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both days of the event. Guests can vote for their favorite cars and register to win special prizes that will all be announced at the end of the event on Sunday. Jazoo, the Zoo’s mascot, and Southpaw from the Jacksonville Suns will keep folks laughing, Radio Disney will play the kids favorites on Saturday and a DJ will be on hand on Sunday with music and games. Fathers with coupons printed from www.jacksonvillezoo.org will be admitted to the Zoo free on Sunday only where they and their children can test their skills at the Daytona USA Pit Stop Challenge. A live band playing music from the 50’s and 60’s will be playing at the Range of the Jaguar inside the Zoo both days. For over 90 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,400 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 unique plant species. The Jacksonville Zoo is a non-profit organization and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It is open year-round, seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located on Jacksonville’s north side at 370 Zoo Parkway, one-half mile east from I-95.
