Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’
Tickets Now Sold Online

Jacksonville, Florida – December 18, 2007 – Officials at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens announced today that Zoo tickets are now available for sale online at jacksonvillezoo.org--at no extra cost and as a compliment to its existing walk-up ticket windows.  The Zoo contracted with long time business partner, Gateway Ticketing Systems, for its eGalaxy software for the new service.  The bar-coded tickets can be purchased with a credit or debit card and printed using any computer with a printer.  Now those who purchase online tickets can bypass the ticket windows and go directly to the turnstiles at the Zoo where their tickets will be scanned for easier and faster entry.

“Many of our visitors have asked for this extra convenience previously, and we are happy to be able to accommodate them,” commented Dennis Pate.  “This user-friendly service will save all of our guests—especially families with small children—time and hassle – after all, we want them in the park as quickly as possible to learn about plants and animals.”

In addition to general admission tickets for adults ($12), seniors ($10) and children three years and older ($7.50), “combo” packages that include admission and train tickets will be sold online.  Because there is no way to check identification online, discounts for AAA and the Military will only be available by purchasing tickets at the ticket windows at the Zoo.  Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens memberships will also be sold using the new service.

For over 90 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment.  Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,500 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 plant species. The Zoo is a non-profit organization and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Located on Jacksonville’s north side a quarter mile off I-95, the Zoo is open year-round, 7 days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information on the Zoo, log on to jacksonvillezoo.org.
