$2 Admission Day at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

Friday, August 6, 2010

August 05, 2010 - Jacksonville, Fl -

On Friday, August 6, 2010, guests can enjoy the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for only $2.00 per person for general admission. The Zoo is open from 9:00 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Tickets are sold until 4:00 p.m.  The Zoo’s 4,000 square foot Splash Ground area at Play Park, air conditioned buildings, fans and cool treats offered at the various mobiles, restaurants and cafés will help keep guests cool.

“The $2 Admission Day promotion is designed to be “budget friendly” so everyone can enjoy the Zoo,” said Tony Vecchio, executive director of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.  “We are happy to provide a fun, educational and affordable escape for families during these economically challenging times.”

The Zoo encourages those who are coming to use sun screen, bring refillable water bottles and dress appropriately for the hot weather.  Those bringing young children to play in the Splash Ground should bring water proof diaper covers.

For over 95 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,400 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 unique plant species. The Jacksonville Zoo is a non-profit organization and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).  It is open year-round, seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located on Jacksonville’s north side at 370 Zoo Parkway, one-half mile east from I-95.
