Gardens at the Zoo: The Master Plan for Botanical Gardens at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

Gardening Class – November 3, 2007

October 8, 2007 – Jacksonville, FL – The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens announced the next class in its series of gardening classes, “Gardens at The Zoo: The Master Plan for Botanical Gardens at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens”.  The class is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Zoo’s PepsiCo Education Foundation Campus. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been in the process of implementing its award winning botanical garden master plan over the last few years. With new additions such as the Gardens at Trout River Plaza, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is now the largest public garden in Jacksonville and one of the largest in Northeast Florida.  Join Bob Chabot, Director of Horticulture at the Zoo as he explains the master plan, provides information about the gardens at the Zoo, the many types of plants, and plans on the upcoming Asian Garden exhibit.

For over 90 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,400 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 unique plant species.
