Press Release For immediate release The Jacksonville Zoo Opens Doors to ACC Championship FansNovember 27, 2007 – Jacksonville, FL – The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is proud to welcome fans of the ACC championship game at a special rate for the week leading up to the game. The City of Jacksonville will host Virginia Tech and Boston College in the December 1st match-up. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is offering a special $2 discount for ticket-holders to the ACC Championship game (limit 4 discounted admissions per ticket). Fans must present their tickets to a Zoo ticket gate attendant to receive the discount. General admission prices are $12 for adults, $7.50 for children (ages 3-12) and $10.00 for senior citizens (age 65 and over). “Jacksonville has made great strides over the past few years and is now recognized as one of the best Zoo’s in the country, “said Dennis Pate, executive director of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. “We’re excited to host fans of these two great schools and look forward to showing off our facility to out-of-town visitors and locals that may want to take advantage of these special prices.” For over 90 years, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experience in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has grown to house more than 1,500 rare and exotic animals and over 1,000 unique plant species. The Jacksonville Zoo is a non-profit organization and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It is open year-round, seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located on Jacksonville’s north side at 370 Zoo Parkway, one-half mile east from I-95.
